The challenge
MD Media (operating as Microdose) produces original content monthly including web conferences, documentaries, and an interactive multimedia library focused on the emerging alternative mental health and wellbeing industry. By 2020, their content had reached viewers in over 100 countries.
As the media library grew, the team faced increasing challenges making their content discoverable, accessible, and efficiently produced. Producing documentaries required extensive manual work in filming, editing, and post-production. Their growing media library lacked the search and accessibility features needed to maximize its value. And without transcripts and text-based content, their video and audio assets were largely invisible to search engines.
- Content discoverability: Hours of valuable video and audio content sat in a library that was difficult to search and navigate, limiting its utility for viewers.
- SEO blindspot: Without transcripts or text representations, media content could not rank in search results, leaving significant organic traffic on the table.
- Production bottlenecks: Documentary workflows involved manual transcription, editing, and coordination that slowed the team down as content volume increased.
